The Wonder of the Cross
Posted by Randall W. Ross in Media Critique, Music, Thoughts and Reflections, Worship on February 8, 2009
For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. I Corinthians 1:18
It can be easy to let the reality of the Gospel…the Good News…become old news…old hat…so familiar that we almost forget about it. I hope and pray that this will never be true of my life or of those that come in contact with me. I want to always talk about Jesus and how He died upon a cross, taking my sin upon himself, so that His righteousness would be counted to my account. Sadly, even among those that claim to be Christians, the reality of the Gospel of the cross of Christ is scarcely proclaimed. It is as if we have agreed with those who are perishing…that the cross is foolishness.
May we never forget that “for us who are being saved the cross is the power of God.”
May we never lose the wonder of this.
I have come accross this song recently and it has been a huge blessing. This video captures a modern illustration of how Christ takes our place. We deserved to die because of our sin, but Jesus steps in and takes the punishment upon Himself. Follow along with the words as you listen to (or watch) the song.
